many choral scholars, the choir becomes a valuable social network
during their time in London - and even a 'family away from home.'
In return, we like to keep in touch with our previous scholars as
they move on to new challenges, musical and otherwise.

Emily-Jane
Thomas, soprano, 2004-05 and 2006-07
Emily-Jane
Thomas was born and bred in Cardiff. In 2003, she began
her degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama,
which she completed in 2007. Her musical interests are
wide-ranging, from choral singing to opera. She played
the role of Paquette in Welsh National Youth Opera's
2006 production of Bernstein's Candide.
Emily
served as an All Saints Scholar in two different years.
In between, in 2005-06, Emily spent six months on an
Erasmus exchange in Hamburg. She is now pursuing a career
in light opera and musical theatre.

Laia
Cortes Calafell, alto, 2006-07
Laia
started to learn music at the age of four. In 1996 she
obtained the foundation degree in music from the municipal
conservatoire of Barcelona, during which time she sang
in youth and semi-professional choirs and performed
around Europe.
As
a soloist, she has performed Magnificat by
Vivaldi, Stabat mater by Pergolesi and Christmas
oratorio by Saint-Saens. In the operatic repertoire
she has sungthe roles of Fidalma from Il Matrimonio
Segreto by Cimarosa and Sesto from La Clemenza
di Tito by Mozart. In December 2003 she started
her studies at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. |

Toby
Scholz , tenor, 2006-07
Toby
started singing in the Youth Choir of the Peter-Cornelius-Konservatorium
in Mainz, Germany, at the age of 11. As a young man,
he took up courses in piano, harmony, composition and
rhythm and was invited to join the presigious Mainzer
Figuralchor and several other ensembles.
One
of the highlights of Toby's early career was an appearance
with the Hilliard Ensemble in Neuwied in 2002. He completed
his undergraduate course at Guildhall in 2007 and continues
to appear in song recitals in the UK and Austria. |

Dhilan
Gnanadurai, baritone, 2003-07
All
Saints had the good fortune to enjoy Dhilan's beautiful
baritone voice in the choral scholar role for four years.
Born in Sri Lanka, Dhilan gained his Associate of the
Trinity College of Music (London) in singing, piano
and violin by the age of 17.
Dhilan
completed his BMus (Hons) degree at Guildhall School
of Music and Drama in 2007. In 2004, he was chosen to
represent GSMD and was a national finalist in the Kathleen
Ferrier Young Singers Bursary Award. He won the Oratorio
and Lieder prizes and the prize for outstanding male
singer in the 2006 North London Music festival.
As
a recitalist, Dhilan's repertoire ranges from Bach to
Barber and he has recently begun to pursue an operatic
career with roles such as Masetto in Don Giovanni
for Hampstead Garden Opera. |
